IV Sedation for Dentistry Procedures
If you’re suffering from dental anxiety, you’re not alone! Many people are nervous about dental checkups and treatment, especially when the topic of anesthesia is brought up. Sedation dentistry can completely change your experience at the dentist. IV conscious sedation is safer than general anesthesia and more reliable than oral medications alone.
The benefits of receiving IV sedation at the dentist include:
- Less anxiety and stress
- More efficient treatment
- Less post-operative discomfort
- Less hassle than general anesthesia
We are proud to be one of the only practices with dentists licensed to perform dental IV sedation in the Santa Barbara area. You deserve to receive the dental care you need without stress and anxiety. Additionally, IV sedation allows treatment to be completed faster and more efficiently. This leads to a better overall dental experience and optimal results for your smile.
How Dental IV Sedation Works
IV sedation is a safe and effective way to help you get the care that you need while feeling more comfortable and at ease. Rather than topically numbing your mouth or putting you under general anesthesia, you’ll receive an IV medication to help you feel comfortable and relaxed. We will then give you local anesthetic to prevent you from feeling any pain in your mouth.
You’ll be relaxed during your procedure, and will be generally less aware of the procedures performed. You won’t be bothered by surrounding sounds or smells. Afterward, you will remember little to nothing about your procedure. Patients have described the experience as dozing in the chair.
Sedation will act quickly and effectively. Before receiving sedation, we can answer any questions you may have to make sure you are at ease and know what to expect. Our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible throughout treatment. With IV sedation dentistry, we’re able to complete multiple treatments at once, leading to fewer appointments overall.
IV sedation allows your dentist to raise or lower the level of sedation as needed throughout your treatment. You will also be able to start your recovery process more quickly. You can expect to take only 1 day off work for a dental procedure using IV sedation.
We will complete a consultation and full evaluation before scheduling your IV sedation procedure to ensure it is safe for you.
